Snorkeling / diving is a popular activity with thousands of people around the world. It offers a unique opportunity for humans to explore a world which is essentially alien to us. It can also be a fun family activity as well.

There are many places in which a novice can learn about snorkeling / diving. Most costal regions have schools which cater to the beginning diver. Even many landlocked locations have dive shops that offer beginning scuba lessons.

There are also many companies that offer snorkeling / diving vacations. These excursions are a great idea for family trips, or for a getaway with friends. Many of these companies offer diving trips designed around exploring everything from shipwrecks to coral reefs.

If you plan on learning to scuba dive, a trip to the dive shop is highly recommended.
